Today is the Second Decking deadline. Bills must emerge from their final Committees and be in their final forms (in their non-originating Chamber) to be considered for  Second Crossover. This “decking” ensures a mandatory 48-hour opportunity for final review by members of the House and Senate before they are asked to vote on the bill’s third reading. To meet this deadline, bills must be heard and passed out of their final committees in their non-originating chamber with their accompanying committee reports (and any amended drafts) filed with the Chief Clerk’s office by the internal deadlines set. Bills that miss this deadline will die for this year.
