• As session unfolds, here are a few items for your attention:
  • The new 2020 bills start their numbering with HB1598 and SB2001, since this is a carryover year. Find the new bills on the Legislature’s website (capitol.hawaii.gov) under “Reports and Lists” and then the links House Bills with Action Taken in 2020 Only and Senate Bills with Action Taken in 2020 Only. The lists will continue to be added to until after the bill introduction cutoff deadline, January 23rd.
  • As you find bills that interest you (call PAR if you’d like assistance), consider adding them to two of your own lists – “Hearing Notification” (which will email you if the measures come up for a hearing) and “Measure Tracking” (where you can visit your list and see the most current status of those bills at a glance). See our “Engagement 101” page for instructions.
  • There have been a few changes to committee membership in both the Senate and the House. In the Senate, Sen. Keohokalole is now Vice Chair of Judiciary (JDC) and leaves the committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Health (CPH); and Sen. Wakai leaves JDC and joins CPH. In the House, the Minority Caucus has changed a number of committee assignments for its members. All changes are reflected on both the Legislature’s website and the printable lists you’ll find on this website under the “Current Legislature” tab.
