The 2021 session is moving quickly! We’re already coming up on the deadline for bills to be out of their originating chamber’s committees.

March 5 is the First Decking deadline. By this date, a bill needs to:

  • pass through all of the committees it was referred to in its chamber of origin; and
  • be submitted (in its final form) to the House or Senate clerk to be considered for passage on third reading.

If your bill has not been scheduled yet, it will probably miss this deadline.

Upcoming:  On Tuesday, March 9th, we may see plenty of speeches on the House and Senate floor. That’s when the chambers will be voting to pass a large number of bills on 3rd reading so they can crossover to the opposite chamber by the First Crossover Deadline.

You can view the floor proceedings on the House and Senate YouTube pages: https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/livevideo.aspx

As always, let us know if we can be of assistance.
