PAR Coming to Hawaii Island, Maui, and Kauai
It’s that time of year again!
The Public Access Room (PAR) will be on Hawaii Island from September 9-13, Maui from Sept 16-19, and Kauai from Sept 23-25 as part of our annual outreach to the Neighbor Islands.
We’re bringing back our “Your Voice“ presentation this year. It goes over the legislative process, but also provides information on using the legislature’s website, offering testimony, tracking legislation, and communicating with legislators.

Today is the Second Decking deadline. Bills must emerge from their final Committees and be in their final forms (in their non-originating Chamber) to be considered for Second Crossover. This “decking” ensures a mandatory 48-hour opportunity for final review by members of the House and Senate before they are asked to vote on the bill’s third reading. First Lateral Deadline is quickly approaching
Tomorrow is the First Lateral Deadline, which means that all bills with multiple referrals must move to their final Committee in their originating Chamber by the end of the day tomorrow. The handy little directories have arrived and are available for pickup at our office at the State Capitol (Room 401). As a reminder, we are open from 7:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during this time of the year. Drop by and pick up your copy.
The 2019 Legislative Session has begun
The 2019 Session has officially begun.
The first bills of the 2019 Session have started to appear on the Legislature’s website. You can find the House and Senate bills via the following link: www.capitol.hawaii.gov/advreports/main.aspx. The bill links will be populated with new bills until all bills that have made the bill introduction cutoff (Deadline is Thursday, Jan 24) is posted.

The 2019 Legislative Session begins next Wednesday (Jan 16th). The House and Senate will convene Opening Day floor sessions at 10:00 a.m. in their respective chambers. Come join us afterward at our Opening Day potluck for rich conversation and our almost-famous punch!
